Interior Designer in Mohali for New Society Flats: Costs, Checklist & Timeline (2026)

In short: Most new society flats in Mohali are handed over bare, with basic tiles, points and no storage. Plan interiors right after possession: snag-check the flat, design storage around the builder layout, choose materials for Mohali's hot summers, cold winters and humid monsoon, then build. A full-flat interior usually takes about 45–60 days* from design approval.

Which parts of Mohali do you design for?

We take full-home and modular projects across Mohali, including the newer sectors on the Airport Road and Kharar side, Aerocity and IT City. Most of this demand is new 3BHK and 4BHK society flats at possession. We also work across Chandigarh, Zirakpur, Panchkula and New Chandigarh.

What should I check on possession day?

Walk the flat with the builder's handover list and record every defect in writing before interior work starts. Once a wardrobe covers a wall, damp or cracks behind it become hard to claim.

  • Damp or seepage on external walls and near bathrooms

  • Floor slope in bathrooms and balconies, so water drains away

  • Every switch, socket, AC point and the earthing

  • Window and balcony door seals before the monsoon

  • Water pressure and leaks under the kitchen and bathroom sinks

How much do new-flat interiors cost in Mohali?

The total depends on flat size, finish tier and how much of the home gets full modular work. Appliances, loose furniture and civil changes are extra, and each appears as its own line in our BOQ.

Which materials suit Mohali's climate?

Mohali swings from cold winters to summers above 40°C, with a humid monsoon in between. Use BWP plywood in the kitchen and bathroom vanities, and at least BWR elsewhere. Choose heat-stable shutters on west-facing walls and near large windows. Seal every exposed board edge, because that is where monsoon moisture gets in first.

What should I change in a society-flat layout?

Keep kitchen and bathroom plumbing where the builder put it; moving it adds cost and leak risk. Spend on storage the layout lacks: full-height kitchen pantries, lofts above wardrobes, a shoe and utility unit at the entrance and a study corner in one bedroom. Plan AC, TV and router points before the false ceiling goes up.

How long does it take, week by week?

  1. Weeks 1–2: site measurement, 3D design, item-wise BOQ and sign-off

  2. Weeks 2–4: electrical changes, false ceiling framework, anti-termite treatment

  3. Weeks 3–7: factory production of kitchen, wardrobes and units

  4. Weeks 7–9: installation, painting, lighting, 100+ quality checks* and handover

What a typical timeline looks like: week 1 for snag check and design sign-off, weeks 2–6 for modular production and on-site carpentry, then final finishing, cleaning and handover. Prices above are indicative ranges; your final cost comes from an itemised quote after a site visit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I live in the flat while interiors are done?

It is possible room by room, but slower and dustier. Most families start after possession and move in once installation, painting and cleaning are complete.

Does my society need to approve interior work?

Usually yes. Most Mohali societies ask for a written request, fixed working hours and rules for debris disposal. We prepare the paperwork with you before work starts.

Can you work for owners living abroad?

Yes. Design reviews happen on video calls, every item is in the BOQ, and you get photo updates at each stage, so you can approve decisions remotely.

Is a modular kitchen worth it in a new flat?

For most flats, yes. Factory-made units fit precisely, finish evenly and install faster than site-built carpentry, which keeps the move-in date predictable.
